It has a full Scandi grind for ease of sharpening. The spine of the blade is ground with sharp corners for use with a fire steel. The tang extends beyond the pommel of the handle, and is also ground with sharp corners for use with a fire steel, or as a scraper. The handle is has a molded checkered pattern and is very grippy.

I love these shelves and have bought additional for other areas in the house. I love the look of the industrial pipes, the color of the shelves is perfect, they are sturdy and hold a lot of weight. They are somewhat difficult to assemble, but it's expected as hanging shelves are never fun to hang. I love them. If you are on the fence, just do it :)
